According to a recently published study by Newzoo, global esports revenue could reach $1,1 billion (roughly CZK 23,6 billion) by the end of this year, which would be 14,5% more year-on-year. Esports is now a more profitable business than ever and Samsung knows it, having just become the official sponsor of David Beckham's esports team. And who knows, maybe Samsung will become a sponsor soon UFC live events.

Samsung is now the official sponsor of Guild Esports, a team co-owned by former England captain David Beckham. The London-based esports organization was listed on the London Stock Exchange last October.

The South Korean tech giant did not provide any details regarding its new sponsorship role, but according to the CityAM website, 50% of the value of the "deal" will be paid in cash and the other half will be in the form of equipment such as monitors. South Korea is considered the cradle of Esports. This is where the phenomenon was born, so it's no big surprise that Samsung has run its own esports team in the past. His team was aptly named Samsung Galaxy and was founded in 2013 after the company purchased the esports organizations MVP White and MVP Blue. The team competed in popular esports games such as Starcraft, Starcraft II and League of Legends and operated until 2017 when they won the world tournament in the latter title.

Samsung has not managed an esports team since then, but has continued to be visibly involved in the field. In April this year, it became a hardware partner of the American esports organization CLG and unveiled a new esports event in the same month. It has also partnered with the Dutch organization H20 Esports Campus to create a learning program for talented game designers.
