Malicious apps are in the world Androidstill a big problem. Despite Google's best efforts, it cannot completely prevent such apps from entering its Play Store. However, when he learns about apps that steal user data, he quickly takes action.

Most recently, Google removed nine popular apps from its store that stole Facebook credentials. Together, they had nearly 6 million downloads. Specifically, they were Processing Photo, App Lock Keep, Rubbish Cleaner, Horoscope Daily, Horoscope Pi, App Lock Manager, Lockit Master, PIP Photo and Inwell Fitness.

Dr.Web researchers discovered that these otherwise perfectly functional apps tricked users into revealing their Facebook credentials. The apps prompted users that they could remove in-app ads by logging into their Facebook accounts. Those who did so then saw an authentic Facebook login screen where they entered their username and password. Their credentials were then stolen and sent to the attackers' servers. Attackers could use this method to steal credentials for any other online service. However, the only target of all these applications was Facebook.

If you have downloaded any of the above apps, uninstall them immediately and check your Facebook account for any unauthorized activity. Always be careful when downloading apps from relatively unknown developers, no matter how many reviews they may have.
