The rear-view "mirrors" of the upcoming Tesla Cybertruck electric pickup will use Samsung camera modules. The value of the "deal" is 436 million dollars (roughly 9,4 billion crowns). It was reported by several South Korean media.

If you remember, the Cybertruck prototype that was introduced in November 2019 was not equipped with regular rear-view mirrors. Instead, it used an array of cameras that were connected to dashboard displays. The production model should not differ that much from the prototype, and reports from South Korea only confirm that the vehicle will have a mirrorless design.

This is not the first time that Samsung and Tesla have collaborated. The Korean tech giant has previously supplied the American automaker with electric car-related technology, including batteries, and according to anecdotal information, Tesla's future electric cars will also use Samsung's new LED module for smart headlights called PixCell LED.

The rear-wheel-drive model of the Cybertruck was originally slated to go into production later this year, with the all-wheel-drive variant hitting the roads in late 2022. However, some "behind-the-scenes" reports say both models will be delayed.
