Korean media citing analyst firm Kiwoom Securities report that Samsung is disappointed with sales of the current flagship series Galaxy S21. The initial expectation was that the phones of the new series would be a hit, but that apparently did not happen.

According to South Korean websites Naver and Business Korea, the S21 series sold a total of 13,5 million units in its first six months of availability. That's 20% less than last year's range of phones sold in the same period S20, and even 47% less than the models of the previous year's series S10.

The websites specified that in the first month of availability, the S21 series sold more than a million units and in five months, 10 million units.

The South Korean smartphone giant is reportedly counting on interest in the "flagship" series Galaxy S will revive its upcoming flagship chipset Exynos 2200, which will include a GPU from AMD. This graphics chip is said to be up to 30% more powerful than the Mali GPU in Samsung's current flagship chipset, according to other reports from South Korea Exynos 2100 and should also be faster than the Adreno GPU in Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 898 flagship chipset.

Since the line will not arrive this time this year Galaxy Note, Samsung will have to rely on new foldable smartphones in the high-end segment, ie Galaxy From Fold 3 a 3 Flip. And the Korean giant is struggling in the top segment. In the second quarter of this year, it delivered a total of 58 million smartphones to the global market, which is roughly 7% more year-on-year. However, if sales of the S21 series have been faltering, it means that the lower and higher end devices were behind the increase.

The competition, more precisely Xiaomi, can add wrinkles to Samsung's forehead. In the second quarter of this year, the Chinese technology giant became the second largest smartphone manufacturer in the world at the expense of Apple, and even surpassed Samsung in June (at least according to the company Counterpoint).
