Last year, Samsung started showing ads in some of its applications, such as Samsung Music, Samsung Themes or Samsung Weather, which among smartphone and tablet users Galaxy caused great indignation. Now, news has hit the airwaves that Samsung might soon "cut" these ads.

According to a Twitter user named Blossom, who links to South Korean website Naver, Samsung mobile chief TM Roh mentioned during the company's online meeting with employees that ads from the South Korean smartphone giant's native apps will soon disappear. Roh also said that Samsung listens to the voices of its employees and users.

A Samsung representative later said that "criticism from employees is absolutely necessary for the company's growth and development" and that it would begin removing ads with One UI updates. However, he did not specify when exactly that would happen. This is definitely a good move from Samsung. The removal of ads, along with longer software support and frequent security updates, will help it stand out from most Chinese brands like Xiaomi, which have been chasing it in the mobile business for some time. Almost all smartphones from Chinese brands now show ads and push notifications in their apps.
