This year, Samsung started with several models of the series Galaxy And like Galaxy A52 to A72, to offer an optical image stabilization (OIS) function. However, next year could be different.

According to Korean site THE ELEC, cited by GSMArena.com, Samsung is likely to add OIS to the main cameras of all models in the series Galaxy A, which he plans to release next year. This would be an unprecedented "democratization" of this function, which until this year was reserved only for flagships and a few "flag killers".

If Samsung does indeed make this move, it will have an important differentiator for its mid-range models in its battle with Xiaomi. The Chinese smartphone giant's devices usually win on price when compared to those from Samsung, but with OIS, the Korean giant's smartphones could have an edge in the image quality of photos (especially at night).

On the other hand, the question is how many people actually know what optical image stabilization is and why it is important, and how many people would choose a phone based on this specific feature alone. The site also notes that a camera with OIS is roughly 15% more expensive than a camera without the feature.

And what about you? What role does OIS play for you when choosing a phone? Let us know in the comments below the article.
