Lately, there have been anecdotal reports in the airwaves that Apple is preparing an iPad with an OLED display from Samsung. However, according to the most recent information, this project has been "killed" by the technological giants.

Apple was rumored to introduce its first iPad with an OLED display next year. It was supposed to feature a 10,86-inch Samsung Display panel. Apparently, it was supposed to be the successor to the current iPad Air. "Behind the Scenes" informace also talked about the fact that in 2023 Apple will launch the 11-inch and 12,9-inch OLED iPad Pro.

The latest reports from South Korea suggest that the 10,86-inch OLED iPad project has been canceled. The reason is unknown, but according to some, it may be related to the question of profitability or the single-layer structure of the OLED panel.

Samsung Display allegedly offered Apple this very panel, but the Cupertino technology giant was supposed to demand an OLED panel with a two-layer structure, which offers twice the brightness and four times the lifespan compared to the first mentioned. The problem is that Samsung's display division only produces a single-layer OLED panel (which is currently the most widely used).

Apple could theoretically secure the required panel from LG Display, which produces two-layer OLED displays for the automotive industry. However, its production capacity is limited and it is not certain whether it would be able to satisfy Apple's demand.
