A new Trojan horse appeared on the scene, infecting over 10 million devices with Androidem around the world and caused hundreds of millions of euros worth of damage. This is reported in a new report from the Zimperium zLabs security team. The Trojan, named GriftHorse by Zimperium zLabs, uses malicious androidov apps to abuse user interactions and trick them into signing up for a hidden premium service.

After being infected androidsmartphone, the Trojan will start sending pop-up notifications with a fake price. These notifications reappear approximately five times per hour until the user taps them to accept the offer. The malicious code redirects the user to a region-specific website where they are asked to enter their phone number for verification. Subsequently, the page sends this number to the premium SMS service, which saves the user 30 euros (roughly 760 crowns) every month. According to the team's findings, the Trojan targeted users from more than 70 countries around the world.

Security researchers also discovered that GriftHorse began attacking last November through malicious apps that were initially distributed through the Google Play Store as well as third-party stores. The good news is that the infected apps have already been removed from the Google Store, however, they still remain on third-party websites and unsecured repositories. So if you're going to sideload an app, at least make sure you get it from a trusted source. Ideally, download applications only from the Google Play store or Galaxy Store. In addition, make sure that your device Galaxy uses the latest security patch.
