As you know from our previous news, Samsung is expected to introduce its new Exynos 2200 flagship chipset later this year or early next year. Now, reports have hit the airwaves that the Korean tech giant could also soon introduce a new Exynos for lower-end devices.

According to respected leaker Ice Universe, Samsung will soon introduce a new chipset called the Exynos 1280. Apparently, it won't be as powerful as the mid-range chip Exynos 1080, which could mean it will be for low-end smartphones and tablets. Its specific specifications are not known at the moment, but it is possible that it will support 5G networks.

Samsung wants according to recent anecdotal reports to significantly increase the share of its chipsets in its devices next year – most of its smartphones and tablets this year used chips from MediaTek or Qualcomm. For this purpose, in addition to the flagship Exynos, it is said to be preparing several other chips - at least one more high-end, one for the middle class and one for the lower class. The last mentioned could be the Exynos 1280.

Recall that the Exynos 2200, which should debut in the phones of the series Galaxy S22, will apparently be manufactured by Samsung's 4nm process and will reportedly get a super-powerful Cortex-X2 processor core, three powerful Cortex-A710 cores and four economical Cortex-A510 cores. An AMD Radeon mobile graphics chip built on the RDNA2 architecture will be integrated into it.
