We probably won't be alone when we say that Samsung DeX is one of the best services Samsung has ever created. It allows – after connecting to a larger display (monitor or TV) – to transform the software of a supported smartphone or tablet Galaxy on a desktop-like user interface. It also works with OS computers Windows or macOS (which have the same Samsung DeX software installed). If you regularly use the service on a computer with an older OS, the following message may not please you.

Samsung has announced that starting next year it will stop supporting DeX on computers with Windows 7 (or older versions Windows) and macOS. Users using Dex on the latter system have already started receiving relevant pop-up messages.

The Korean tech giant has also updated its website for the service, which now reads: “DeX for PC service for Mac operating system/Windows 7 will be discontinued by January 2022. For further questions or assistance, please contact us through the Samsung Members app.” Users who have DeX installed on their computer will continue to be able to use it, but Samsung will no longer update or support it. Users Windows 7 can upgrade their computer to Windows 10 or recently released Windows 11.

macOS users will no longer be able to download the DeX software to their computer. If they have a monitor, they can connect a smartphone or tablet Galaxy and making the service available, use the DeX docking station or USB-C to HDMI cable.
