One of Samsung's divisions, Samsung Display, is the world's largest manufacturer of small OLED displays used in smartphones and tablets. More recently, the division entered the medium-sized OLED screen market with its high refresh rate notebook displays. The company also makes flexible displays for "puzzles" like Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3.

Samsung Display has now launched new website, which showcases all the form factors that are possible with its flexible OLED panels. It calls its flexible displays Flex OLED and divides them into five categories – Flex Bar, Flex Note, Flex Square, Rollable Flex and Slidable Flex. Flex Bar is designed for clamshell "benders" such as Galaxy Z Flip 3, Flex Note for laptops with flexible displays, Flex Square for smartphones like Galaxy From Fold 3.

Rollable Flex can be used in devices with rollable displays, and we could see such devices in the future. Finally, the Slidable Flex is designed for smartphones with slide-out displays. This year, the Chinese company OPPO released one such smartphone, or showed a prototype of a smartphone called OPPO X 2021, but has not yet launched it (and apparently will not launch it).

Samsung Display boasts that its flexible OLED displays feature high brightness, support for HDR10+ content, a low bend radius (R1.4) and better display protection (UTG) than the competition. It also claims that the displays can be folded over 200 times, which equates to 100 unfolding and folding cycles every day for five years.
