Samsung is launching an Advent calendar project for healthy mobile phone use in the Czech Republic and Slovakia under the name #SklapniMobil. According to recent surveys, almost half of the working-age population and the vast majority of young people report that they spend more time with their mobile phones than they would like. Czech and Slovak experts on mental health and digital detox enriched the #SklapniMobil project with their tips and suggestions. The Advent Challenge consists of 24 simple daily tasks, is open from 1st to 24th December and can be entered via the site sklapnimobil.cz each.

As part of a survey conducted in November 2021 by Samsung on a sample of 1100 respondents aged 18-65, alarming data came out. Almost half (47,5%) of Czechs believe that they spend more time on their mobile phones than they would like. At the same time, slightly more women than men have this feeling. However, the most problematic situation is with the young generation (18-26 years old), who basically grew up with a mobile phone in hand. Almost three-quarters (71,5%) of its representatives spend more time on their phone than they would like, and the overwhelming majority (55,9%) would rather leave home without a wallet than without a mobile phone. All of this is illustrated by the fact that, according to research, 46% of young people have a mobile phone at hand even at the Christmas Eve table. "The results of this research show not only that the mobile phone is an absolutely ubiquitous companion for young people, but also that they themselves are aware of the excessive time spent on the mobile phone," said addictionologist MUDr. Adam Kulhánek, Ph.D. "It is likely that this is also related to the period of the pandemic, when various types of digital addictions have increased in the population."

"Samsung, whose mobile phones are currently used by almost 4 million people in the Czech Republic, has been emphasizing the so-called digital balance or digital well-being for a long time. The fact that a smartphone is a useful and extremely versatile tool should not take away the joy of using it," said Tereza Vránková, Samsung's director of marketing and communications for the Czech Republic and Slovakia. "That's why we're launching a unique Advent challenge #SklapniMobil for everyone who wants to focus on their digital well-being."

The advent calendar is available on the website sklapnimobil.cz, where anyone who wants to participate in the challenge can (but doesn't have to) simply register. In the period from December 1 to 24, one easy detox task will open here every day, with the help of which you can test your relationship with smartphone use. Registered participants receive email challenges each night for the upcoming day, can track their progress on the web, and are entered into four weekly phone contests Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3, which can be easily "folded" thanks to the flexible display.

Experts on digital addictions and a healthy lifestyle helped prepare the Advent challenge #SklapniMobil. Among them are Ing. Aneta Baklová, Ph.D., digital detox coach, MUDr. Adam Kulhánek, Ph.D., addictologist and soft skills coach, and PhDr. Marek Madro, Ph.D., psychologist and founder of the Internet counseling center IPčko.sk.
