Water resistance is a feature that is usually reserved for high-end smartphones. Some of Samsung's cheaper phones are waterproof, but not many. Now, a report has hit the airwaves, according to which more of Samsung's mid-range phones could feature this feature in the near future.

According to the Korean website The Elec, several models of the series could soon receive different levels of water protection Galaxy A. All phones in this range from the mid-range model should have "some" water resistance Galaxy A33 5G up. Although the IP rating (which also indicates protection against dust) is not the most important feature for smartphones, it could help Samsung phones stand out from the competition.

Samsung has secured the silicone parts needed for water and dust protection from the Korean company Yuaiel. In addition, it simplified the production process associated with it, making mass production easier. While water and dust protection is undoubtedly a welcome plus for cheaper smartphones, it should be noted that such devices are much more difficult to repair. Samsung doesn't have such restrictive rules when it comes to allowing users to repair their own products, but adding a waterproof adhesive layer will definitely make its phones more difficult to disassemble.
