Commercial message: If you want to buy a new mobile phone, you can focus on a whole range of parameters. You would certainly be interested in the purchase price, but also the display and hardware, from the processor to connectivity.

How to save when buying a smartphone?

If you want a smartphone only for calling, texting or using Messenger, no point in spending tens of thousands. If, on the other hand, you want to play the latest games on your mobile, or use it to create top-quality photos, don't look for the cheapest devices on the market. In general, if you use discount coupons on Smarty.cz, or other events of relevant stores, you can save interesting amounts when shopping. But what parameters to focus on in addition to the price when buying?

Focus on the display

When choosing a mobile phone, you will probably be interested in its display itself. In this regard, you can focus on a whole range of parameters. What are the most important ones?

  • Size. Among the most popular are smartphones with a diagonal from 6" to 6,5", however phones with a diagonal above 6,5" are already becoming the standard. These are larger, so they have a larger display area. Thanks to the reduced frame, they don't have to be so bulky.
  • Technology. Currently, the best on the market are OLED displays, which have lower energy consumption than LCD displays. However, phones with the second variant tend to be cheaper, so they are suitable for those who prefer a lower price.
  • Resolution and aspect ratio. It is true that the higher the resolution, the sharper the image. The standard is Full HD, but there are also models with 4K resolution. As for the aspect ratio, most smartphones are 18:9, but there are many other models.
  • Refresh rate. The last important parameter that indicates how many times per second the image on the display is redrawn. A higher number means a smoother image. The standard today is 90 Hz, but you may encounter much higher and lower numbers.

Consider the hardware

If you have already chosen an affordable mobile phone with a display that will meet your requirements, you should also focus on the hardware, i.e. the technical equipment that decides (not only) the performance.

  • processor. When choosing this hardware, focus on the number of cores, which usually ranges from 4 to 8 (the more the better), as well as the frequency. This is stated in GHz, while it normally ranges from 1,8 to 2,8 GHz. These parameters have a significant effect on the performance of the smartphone.
  • Operation memory. It also significantly affects the overall performance of the phone. In the optimal case, it should be 6 to 8 GB, however, the most demanding applications such as games require even higher operating memory (sometimes even above 12 GHz).
  • Internal storage. If you want to have a lot of apps, games or movies on your phone, you should look for a device with at least 128 GB of storage space. On the other hand, you can easily purchase memory cards of various sizes, which are also used to store data.
  • Battery. Standard battery life is 4 mAh, the higher the number, the higher the capacity. In addition, modern phones can have various gadgets in this regard, such as fast charging or wireless charging.
  • Camera. The resolution is given in megapixels. The average photography device may have a resolution of 10 MPx, but it can be significantly higher. Of course, the aperture also depends, with the best mobile phones having f/1,5. Here, however, the lower the number, the better, because such a device copes better with a lack of light. Better phones can also record 4K videos.
  • Connectivity. Currently, the smartphone should support high-speed Internet (4G). However, more and more phones today also support fast 5G networks. They could also become a standard here in the coming years.
