Samsung released another one today informace about integrating SmartThings Hub software into some of its new 2022 products – Smart TVs, Smart monitors and Family Hub refrigerators. SmartThings is a cutting-edge technology that makes it possible to connect various devices in the home and is involved in shaping the future of the Internet of Things (IoT). The implementation of SmartThings Hub software turns Samsung products into modern home control centers for seamless connection and control of a wide range of supported devices. People can thus easily start taking advantage of this connection or improve their existing system already used in tens of millions of smart homes.

People's interest in the purposeful connection of devices in the home, which would make their lives easier and more pleasant, continues to grow, which is reflected in the explosive development of this industry. According to the 2021 Connectivity and Mobile Trends Survey published by Deloitte, US households own an average of 25 connected devices, and consumers are increasingly placing greater emphasis on ease of use, interoperability and cost savings in their purchasing decisions.

"Previously, in order to connect and control smart devices such as TVs, air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, lighting, sockets, cameras or various detectors, people had to purchase a special central unit, a so-called hub," explains Mark Benson, head of Samsung's product and project department SmartThings. "By integrating SmartThings Hub technology into select Samsung products, we're simplifying the entire installation so that people can create a connected home exactly as they envision it, without needing a separate hub."

With billions of devices already compatible with the rich SmartThings ecosystem and future support for a breakthrough smart home interoperability standard called Matter, SmartThings technology plays a significant role in creating a unified connected home environment.

SmartThings Hub software integration gives people the ability to make the most of their Samsung devices by supporting various smart home communication protocols. In addition to the Matter platform, this software will support Wi-Fi or Ethernet connections, enabling communication between a wide range of smart devices. Connection to devices on the Zigbee platform will be possible via an additional USB adapter.

"The goal of SmartThings was to create conditions for improving people's lives. To achieve this, we have redoubled our efforts to perfect this technology and prepare the next step on the road to building connected homes," said Jaeyeon Jung, vice president of Samsung Electronics and head of the SmartThings team. "With the scale of Samsung's portfolio and the open, versatile and flexible SmartThings platform, we are uniquely positioned to meet the demand for connected home devices that has continued to increase since the start of the pandemic."

SmartThings Hub features will be available in select Samsung products throughout 2022. More informace about SmartThings technology can be obtained on the website www.smartthings.com.
