Crisis not crisis, December 2021 was Samsung's second best month in its history in terms of production, and once again it proved that the main driver of the company's success is Galaxy Z Flip 3. Market watchers expect the high demand to continue in the first quarter of 2022, even if it drops considerably in the second. 

In December last year, the company produced around 1,4 million foldable smartphones, representing a whopping 3% year-on-year increase. The largest markets for foldable phones in 2021 were Korea, Europe, and the US, with demand growing year-on-year especially in the US. This year, market watchers expect demand to maintain an upward trend in Q1, particularly in Europe, where Samsung could deploy up to 56% of its foldable phone production capacity.
