Samsung was the first in the world to introduce an all-in-one security chip for payment cards. The chip, named S3B512C, combines a fingerprint reader, a security element and a security processor.

Samsung said its new chip is certified by EMVCo (an association that includes Europay, MasterCarda Visa) and supports Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level (CC EAL) 6+. It also meets Master's latest Biometric Evaluation Plan Summary (BEPS) specificationscard. The chip can read a fingerprint through a biometric sensor, store and verify it using a security element (Secure Element), and analyze and process data using a security processor (Secure Processor).

Samsung promises that "payments" using its new technology will be able to make payments faster and more securely than regular cards. The chip even supports anti-spoofing technology, which prevents attempts to use the card through methods such as artificial fingerprints.

“The S3B512C combines a fingerprint sensor, Secure Element (SE) and Secure Processor to add another layer of security to payment cards. The chip is designed primarily for payment cards, but it can also be used in cards that require highly secure authentication, such as student or employee identification or building access," said Kenny Han, vice president of Samsung System LSI's chip department.
