Samsung announced its quarterly earnings, and the numbers showed just how much of an impact its foldable smartphones had on the company's profits. There's no denying that they're from models Galaxy From Fold3 a Galaxy Flip3 became a bestseller. Especially Galaxy Z Flip3 is still selling very well. Maybe even better than Samsung imagined.

The high-end smartphone market is in for a big change, and of course the company is driving it Apple. Its recent quarterly results show that on its own iPhonech makes incredible money despite selling less than Samsung. Although it has the largest sales of smartphones worldwide, only some of them are premium devices. AT Apple this cannot be said, it has only one low-end model in the form of iPhone SE 2nd generation. And it's not a cheap thing either. By value, it is still the most profitable smartphone seller Apple.

2022 in the midst of changes

It is expected that iPhone 14 Pro could leave from its characteristic cutout in the display, and Apple could replace it with a so-called through-hole design. Apple has been resisting this change for many years mainly because of its Face ID. However, Samsung was one of the first manufacturers of phones with Androidem, which just adopted the punch-hole design in the display and is now a permanent part of its device. This, of course, at the expense of biometric face verification, which is why in its top line it relies on an ultrasonic fingerprint reader under the display. Apple's Face ID authentication is second to none Android.

The cut-through design will allow the company Apple increase the display of iPhones, which is likely to be a big incentive for its customers to buy a new device. This may entice many existing iPhone owners to upgrade their existing devices to the latest faster iPhone than ever before. After all, who doesn't like a bigger display?

But how will Samsung react to this? Its flagships Galaxy With and before Galaxy While the Note may have been able to compete with the iPhone in terms of paper specs, it still wasn't attractive enough to make iPhone users switch sides. However, there is one device that has users making the switch. Of course, we are talking about the model Galaxy From Flip3. Its unique design and the "friendly" price for such a solution are all to blame. This is set at 26 CZK in the Czech Republic, iPhone 13 starts at 22 CZK and iPhone 13 Pro for CZK 28. Galaxy But there is still something unique about the Flip3, something that breaks the monotony of the smartphone market (even if there is a Motorola Razr or a Huawei P50 Pocket). iPhone it's still just iPhone.

Major improvements

Samsung must use this power to prevent 2022 from becoming the year of the iPhone. And he doesn't have to do much for it. However, he should list two models Galaxy From Flip4, when one will be the basic, more affordable series, and the other will bear the Ultra moniker. What would then distinguish these two models should not be the size of the display, but rather the basic specifications, such as cameras, battery size, charging speed, etc.

Although the design is nice. There is still room for improvement. For example, the crease in the display is exactly what customers would like to remove. Technological limitations may prevent this, but Samsung can certainly make it less noticeable. Battery life must also improve with the new clamshell phone, at least by 25%. Customers who come to this solution from other high-end devices complain about this.

Another crucial area to focus on is the cameras. Samsung doesn't mind if its new models are a hair thicker than their predecessors (after all, even iPhones are getting thicker). It's easy for customers to overlook this when they get high-end cameras. Model Galaxy The Flip4 Ultra could also have a front camera under the display as another differentiating factor. Samsung made Galaxy Z Flip3 as one of the first foldable smartphones in the world with an IP rating for water resistance. This should certainly be preserved in the model as well Galaxy From Flip4, although the rating itself is unlikely to be increased in any way.

A step ahead Applem

Finally, Samsung should add a bit in marketing. We all loved seeing those commercials where he targeted Apple as his biggest competitor. And if you in Apple caused some commotion in the community, it was only good. The company must be aggressive or it will fail in its plan. At the same time, it is also directly offered to present Samsung's solution in this way.

Samsung has the advantage that it will introduce new generations of its folding devices already in the summer, i.e. before iPhone 14. Existing iPhone owners would therefore not want to wait for Apple's response. Samsung has a huge lead in foldable smartphones, even as it tweaks them generation after generation. However, it would be a clear disaster for the fans of the brand and herself if this year Apple presented its solution to the foldable iPhone. It can be expected that such a solution would be uncompromising and all demanding Apple users would automatically reach for it rather than looking around at competitors. That's why Samsung has to try and show us a clear direction.
