Samsung with the release of the system Android 12 really didn't delay for her devices. It got all of its supported flagships into the beta program faster than ever before, and for example released a stable update for the S21 series within a few weeks of the Pixel phones. Now that One UI 4 is making its way to more devices, let's take a look at its top 5 features you should try. One UI 4 may not be packed with as many new features as previous versions, but the changes made by Samsung are definitely nice and useful.

Appearance Material You

The most notable change is Material You, which creates a color palette from the wallpaper and uses it to recolor the system's user interface and compatible apps. Although Google has not yet made its Monet API available to other OEMs, Samsung has managed to implement its own which is fully compatible with Google apps.

Paradoxically, Samsung's solution generates a wider range of more vibrant colors than just the muted pastels found on the Pixel device. And setting them is as easy as setting a new wallpaper. Once you do so, the phone prompts you to choose from four generated color palettes.

Icons

One UI has always been one of the most customizable system skins Android, so it's surprising that it took Samsung this long to finally add icon pack support. Technically speaking, they were already available in version One UI 3.1.1, but only on foldable devices. After downloading the chosen icon pack, open the Good Lock app and go to the Theme Park module. Click the icon tab to create a new theme. At the top of the screen, you have the option to use an icon pack downloaded from the store Galaxy Store or Play Store.

Widgets

Widgets are part of the system Android since its first release. IN Androidhowever, at 12 they have received a lot of care and attention to make them more useful and consistent. In addition to access to all new Google widgets, all Samsung widgets have been tweaked to match the aesthetic within One UI 4 Androidu 12. Of course, the corners of third-party widgets have also been rounded. So if you haven't used widgets before because you simply didn't like them, you're sure to change your mind now.

New Always-On display settings for notifications

In previous versions of One UI, you could set the Always-On display to appear only for a few seconds after a tap, or to be on all the time (as the name suggests). "Show for new notifications" option is now available in One UI 4. After turning it on, the Always-On display will turn itself off until you receive a new message to activate it again. It then stays on until you check those notifications.

Improved applications

The Camera application has received several minor modifications that make it easier to use. For example, the zoom elements now show what level you're about to switch to, instead of showing the cluttered tree icons they did before. Reworked Weather, for example, offers new animations of various weather conditions. Also note the complete absence of ads. These were completely removed from the entire system, which was particularly annoying for the Actions application.
