Some of the best smartphones in the world, including Galaxy S22Ultra a Galaxy S21Ultra, iPhone 13 Pro or Xiaomi 12 Pro, use LTPO OLED panels made by Samsung. Its Samsung Display division was the only company to make these displays for several years. But now it has become clear that he has competition.

According to well-known mobile display insider Ross Young, the first smartphone to use an LTPO OLED display made by someone other than the Korean tech giant is the Honor Magic 4 Pro that was unveiled yesterday. Specifically, it is said that its display is manufactured by the Chinese companies BOE and Visionox. The display of the new flagship of Honor boasts a size of 6,81 inches, a QHD+ resolution (1312 x 2848 px), a variable refresh rate with a maximum of 120 Hz, a peak brightness of 1000 nits, support for HDR10+ content and can display over a billion colors.

While this LTPO OLED display isn't as bright as Samsung's OLED panels (the best reach up to 1750 nits), it's bright enough to use without much trouble. How it will hold up in practice remains to be seen, but it's good that Samsung Display now finally has some competition to ensure it doesn't rest on its laurels.
