Popular chat platform Signal has refuted speculations that have been circulating on various social networks for the past few days that it has been hacked. According to her, nothing like that happened and user data is safe.

In a post on Twitter, Signal said it was aware of the rumors that it had been hacked, and assured that the "rumours" were false and that the platform had not experienced any hacking. While Signal made the announcement on Twitter, it says it is aware that the speculation is spreading on other social media as well.

According to the platform, the hacking speculation is part of a "coordinated disinformation campaign" that aims to "convince people to use less secure alternatives". However, she was not more specific. Signal added that it had seen an increase in usage in Eastern Europe and suggested that rumors of a hack attack may have started to spread because of this.

The platform uses end-to-end encryption to protect the messages being sent. This means that the messages that the user sends are visible only to him and the person who receives them. If someone wants to spy on such messages, all they will see is an incomprehensible combination of text and symbols.
