The mobile chipset market was dominated by MediaTek in the last quarter of last year, although its share decreased year-on-year. Samsung's already small share has shrunk year-on-year and is now in fifth place behind Unisoc, which has seen significant growth from year to year. This was reported by the analytical company Counterpoint Research.

MediaTek led the mobile chipset market in Q4 2021 with a share of 33%, which is four percentage points less than in the last quarter of 2020. Qualcomm was in second place with a share of 30%, representing year-on-year growth by seven percentage points. It closes the top three largest manufacturers of mobile chips Apple with a share of 21%, which is one percentage point less year on year.

The first "non-medal" rank was occupied by Unisoc, whose share in the period in question was 11% and which thus improved by seven percentage points year-on-year. Fifth was Samsung with a share of 4%, which lost three percentage points year-on-year (according to Counterpoint Research due to the fact that it launched more phones and tablets with chips from MediaTek during this period), and the top six players in this field are closed by HiSilicon, a subsidiary Huawei, whose share fell from 7% to just one percent due to US sanctions. According to unofficial reports from the end of last year, Samsung wants to significantly increase the share of its Exynos chips in smartphones this year Galaxy, from 20 to 60%. This should also apply to low-end and mid-range phones.
