Two weeks ago, the case of slowing down the performance of Samsung phones in some games and applications began to be solved, starting from the brand new series Galaxy S22 up to model Galaxy S10. As a result, the company's phones were also dropped from the Geekbench performance test. And while Samsung is already rolling out a fix update for at least its latest smartphones, the problem also affects its tablets Galaxy Table S8.

On Friday, Samsung released the update in its home market of South Korea, but it soon spread to Europe as well. The company had to act, because it is not only about the possibility of filing a class action, but, of course, a clearly critical view of its practices on the part of users, which must be "ironed out" as soon as possible. But unfortunately, we are not yet at the end of this thorny road, which will hurt Samsung for a while.

Not only phones, but also tablets, specifically the latest flagship series, throttle their performance Galaxy Tab S8. As the magazine found out Android Police, Samsung's performance throttling resulted in a loss of between 18-24% in the single-core test and 6-11% in the multi-core process for its latest tablets. For tablets of the series Galaxy However, the Tab S7 and Tab S5e did not experience a similar drop in performance, so it is evident that this is a GOS (Game Optimization Service) feature.

slowing down

However, GOS is a very sophisticated system that takes multiple variables into account when throttling performance to varying degrees, including temperature, expected FPS, power consumption, and more. This also explains why the tested tablets were not slowed down as much as the phones in the series Galaxy S22. A larger internal space probably means better heat dissipation, which GOS also takes into account.

Removal from Geekbench

Samsung to the magazine's questions about the slowdown in the range of tablets Galaxy The Tab S8 didn't respond. Which is not true of the Geekbench test. He stated that he plans to remove these devices from his lists in the same way as he did in the case of the affected phones of the series Galaxy S. Geekbench's policy is that even with the current update, it has no plans to return these questionable devices to its lists, which is of course a big problem for Samsung.
