If you are the owner of a Samsung Chromebook and would like to play the games of the most popular PC gaming platform Steam on it, then we have good news for you. At its Google for Games Developer Summit, Google announced the alpha version of Steam (or Steam Alpha) for the ChromeOS operating system. For now, however, it will only be available to some.

However, the alpha version of Steam for Chromebooks (not just Samsung) has been "launch only" at the moment, meaning that the average user won't be able to access it just yet. For now, it will only be available to a limited group of ChromeOS developer channel users. For others, it will be available "soon," according to Google.

Google also revealed the minimum system requirements to run Steam Alpha. You will need a Chromebook with an 11th generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processor and at least 7 GB of RAM. In other words, you won't be able to play Steam games on cheap Chromebooks anyway. The California tech giant also announced a new gaming overlay for select players androidtitles. This allows you to easily play these games on Chromebooks using a keyboard and mouse.
