Samsung has placed an order with its Samsung Display division for a "jigsaw" Galaxy About 4% more display panels from the Flip60 than last year's Galaxy Z-Flip3. This was reported by the well-known insider in the field of mobile displays Ross Young.

Young said Samsung Display expects to start shipping these panels as early as April, just as it did last year's Flip. Initially, it is to supply Samsung with 8,7 million panels. For comparison: for the third Flip, it was 5,1 million panels, i.e. less than 60% less.

From Young's informace it turns out that the Korean tech giant expects to deliver even more flexible phones to the market this year. Back in November, there were reports that Samsung plans to increase production of both the Z Flip4 and fourth generation Z Fold. However, the company is said to want to focus on producing the next flexible clamshell, presumably for its portability and better affordability. In this context, let us recall that Galaxy The Flip3 was priced at $999 at the start of sales, while the Fold3 was available for almost twice that (namely $1).

Nothing concrete is known about the fourth generation Flip at the moment. It is speculated that it will have an improved hinge, a lighter construction than its predecessor (with the same dimensions) or that the size of its external display will increase from 1,83 inches to at least 1,9 inches. It could be launched like its predecessor in August.
