Samsung today introduced a new mid-range smartphone Galaxy A53 5G. This is the successor to last year's successful model Galaxy A52, compared to which it brings some improvements. Both smartphones are equipped with a 6,5-inch Infinity-O Super AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution, HDR10+ standard and an under-display fingerprint reader. However, the novelty has a refresh rate of 120 Hz, while Galaxy A52 only "knows" 90 Hz. The phones share the same design and also have the same certification for resistance to water and dust, i.e. IP67.

Galaxy A53 i Galaxy The A52 also includes stereo speakers, but the first mentioned, i.e. the current novelty, lacks a 3,5mm jack. However, this is an inevitable trend not only for Samsung smartphones, which should not play a big role in the purchase decision. The novelty uses Samsung's brand new mid-range chipset Exynos 1280, which is more powerful than the Snapdragon 720G chip powering it Galaxy A52. It should show itself both in everyday use and, of course, in playing games.

Both smartphones have the same photo setup, i.e. a 64MP main camera with optical image stabilization, a 12MP "wide-angle" camera, a 5MP macro camera and a 5MP depth sensor. They also share the same 32MPx selfie camera. There shouldn't be much of a difference between the two in this area, although Samsung mentioned at the launch that it has improved the camera software so that the phone takes better pictures in low light conditions, and the night mode is also said to be improved.

Bigger battery and faster charging

Galaxy The A52 was launched with Androidem 11 and the One UI 3.1 superstructure and was promised three major system updates. The successor is powered by software Android 12 with superstructure One UI 4.1 and it's promised four major system updates. This is great news for those who intend to use it for the next few years. And finally, Galaxy The A53 has a larger battery capacity than its predecessor (5000 vs. 4500 mAh), so its battery life should be noticeably better. Both phones support 25W fast charging, which promises to charge from 0 to 100% in about an hour.

All in all, it offers Galaxy A53 slightly smoother display of content on the display, higher performance, longer software support, support for 5G networks and (probably) longer battery life. The improvements are solid, but not fundamental. Someone may be disappointed by the practically "untouched" camera (although the news took place in particular on the software field) and the absence of a 3,5 mm jack. If you are the owner Galaxy A52, it probably won't be worth buying its successor if you own one Galaxy A51, Galaxy The A53 is definitely worth considering.
