Apple in January, it sold more than a third of all smartphones with support for 5G networks. It was closely followed by Samsung and Chinese competitors. This was reported by the analytical company Counterpoint Research.

Apple's share of global sales of 5G smartphones in January reached 37%, Samsung's share was, perhaps surprisingly for some, more than three times lower, namely 12%. Xiaomi finished third with a share of 11%, Vivo fourth with the same share and Oppo fifth with a share of 10%.

Counterpoint Research noted that Apple's high share is due, among other things, to its strong position in China, which cannot be said for Samsung. However, the Korean giant was the first to launch a 5G phone. It was about Galaxy S10 5G and it was in the spring of 2019. As for his rival from Cupertino, he "got bolder" in this respect only in October 2020, when he presented a series of iPhone 12. On Apple's account, the analytical firm also stated that its position in this area can be strengthened by the recently mentioned iPhone SE (2022), the price of which is roughly half the average price of a high-end iPhone (specifically, it is $429).

Otherwise, at the beginning of the year, 51% of 5G smartphones were sold globally, according to the latest Counterpoint Research report. This means that every second smartphone sold supported 5G networks.
