We all surely remember the day when, after a series of speculations, conjectures and more or less credible leaks, the Samsung phone was finally officially presented to the world Galaxy Fold. What preceded its introduction and how did its development take place?

It has been rumored for a long time that the South Korean company Samsung could introduce its own foldable smartphone, with these speculations gaining more intensity around the first half of 2018. It was rumored that the Samsung workshop could be in the foreseeable future a brand new foldable smartphone will be released, which should be equipped with an OLED display with a diagonal of at least 7″, and which should serve as a tablet when unfolded. More or less wild proposals of how such a foldable smartphone from Samsung's workshop should look like have been circulating on the Internet for some time, but the company itself shed a little more light on the whole thing only in the fall of 2018.

At that time, the head of Samsung's mobile division, DJ Koh, officially stated in one of his interviews that Samsung is indeed working on an exclusive foldable smartphone, and that it could even show the world one of its prototypes in the foreseeable future. Speculations at the time talked about two displays, protected by a special flexible and durable material, and there were also rumors about a very high price, which was supposed to make Samsung's foldable smartphone a luxury device, intended especially for mobile customers. In November 2018, Samsung presented a prototype of its own at its developer conference Galaxy Fold - at that time, probably few people had any idea how long the delay would be in terms of the official launch of this model.

Informace regarding the date of the introduction, or the launch of sales of the new foldable smartphone from Samsung, they continuously differed. There was talk of the beginning of 2019, some bolder sources even speculated about end of 2018. At a conference held in April 2019, however, Samsung announced that an error had occurred during development, production and testing, which would require delaying the release of the smartphone. The start date for pre-orders has been changed several more times. Samsung Galaxy The Fold was equipped with a pair of displays. A smaller, 4,6″ display was located on the front of the smartphone, while the diagonal of Samsung's Infinity Flex internal display Galaxy Fold was 7,3″ when unfolded. Samsung said the phone's mechanism should withstand up to 200 folds and refolds. At the top of the internal display was a cutout for the front-facing camera, the smartphone was powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor and offered 12GB of RAM along with 512GB of internal storage.

From the media, Samsung's first foldable smartphone earned praise for its features, camera and display, while the smartphone's price was the main face of criticism. Despite the fact that the first foldable smartphone from Samsung had to deal with a number of problems with the display, the company did not give up the production of these models, and gradually introduced other models of a similar type.
