Meta, formerly known as Facebook Inc., is doing so with the release of emoji reactions to in-app messages WhatsApp he's obviously serious. The long-requested feature was first spotted late last year in unreleased builds of the globally popular chat platform and now appears to have been released to a limited number of beta testers.

According to WABetaInfo, emoji message reactions are now available to a select group of beta testers using androidWhatsApp beta version 2.22.8.3. At the moment, beta testers can choose from six different emoji reactions, including a thumbs up or like, a red heart symbolizing love, surprise, sadness, joy and thank you. Whether more will be added to these six emotes is unclear at this point, but it should be a decent start anyway.

The creators of the app have not yet revealed when the feature could be made available to all users, but it has been in development for several months. Most popular messaging apps, such as Telegram or Viber, have offered emoji reactions to messages for some time now, so it's only a matter of time before this feature comes to WhatsApp as well.
