The situation in Ukraine has forced millions of people to leave their native country, and many of them come to the Czech Republic and Slovakia in search of not only safety, but also a temporary or permanent home. In addition to ensuring the basic needs of life, housing or schooling for children, they often also need medical care, either for their acute health problems or because of the interruption of treatment for an ongoing or chronic disease. Access to information and the ability to quickly get treatment or counseling are therefore key for them.

The company MEDDI hub, which develops and operates telemedicine applications for clients in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, but also in the countries of South and Central America, perceives the health needs of the residents of Ukraine, who have reached the territory of our republic in recent weeks, and therefore prepared for them the Ukrainian version of its MEDDI telemedicine application. "This already allows you to communicate with doctors in Ukrainian and to consult your medical needs at any time via video call or chat. Of course, the services are free and all coordination takes place in cooperation with the Embassy of Ukraine in Prague and the Doctors for Ukraine initiative," says Jiří Pecina, founder and director of MEDDI hub.

With the increasing number of refugees, MEDDI hub continues to reach out to doctors who communicate in Ukrainian and who want to help people from Ukraine to contact the email address support@meddi.com. "We will help doctors with quick and easy registration so that they can start providing online consultations as quickly as possible to everyone in need in the Czech Republic, but possibly also in the whole of Europe," explains Jíří Pecina, in cooperation with the Embassy of Ukraine in Prague and the Doctors for Ukraine initiative.

When registering in the Czech Republic, all Ukrainian residents receive full health insurance, and doctors are therefore reimbursed for procedures directly by the health insurance company according to the code for Telemedicine treatment according to specialization. "For doctors, it is therefore a common method that they use with all patients," adds Jíří Pecina. „Odkaz na služby aplikace MEDDI je zahrnutý v rámci tzv. SOS Card, kterou obdrží každý registrovaný uprchlík od vlády České republiky a kde najde kontakty na důležité instituce a služby,“ supplies. Flyers with a QR code to download the application will also be distributed at the registration points.

The MEDDI application enables safe and effective communication between doctors and patients. Doctors are verified with their own certificate and the SÚKL certificate. They can not only give advice to patients, but also prescribe him medication, view his medication record, send him a medical report, book him to the doctor's office and much more. For example, the Masaryk Oncology Institute uses the MEDDI application for its patients. Currently, a special version of MEDDI Diabetes is being prepared for diabetes patients, as well as a version for expectant mothers, on which MEDDI hub is collaborating with the Institute for Maternal and Child Care. As part of employee benefits, telemedicine services are also provided to their employees by, for example, Veolia or the Chamber of Commerce of the Czech Republic. It is also provided by VISA for holders of premium cards.
