Samsung has published a post on its website that offers a unique look into the "design kitchen" of the superstructure One UI 4. As one of the main goals, he set himself to make the user environment intuitive and secure, while at the same time allowing the user to adapt it as much as possible to his needs.

Version 4 starts with a color system aimed at cleaning up the look. Color is applied to the most important elements, everything else is black and white. The system has three color groups: basic, functional and application. Before version 4, the interface used slightly different colors that meant the same thing. They are now consistently unified to create functional colors; e.g. red means "reject", "delete", "delete", etc.

Samsung has also thought about how to change the design of the superstructure apps to better suit the needs of different people. This was the main idea behind the redesign of apps like Weather or Calendar. Some users want to check the current weather, while others want to know what the weather will be like all day. Before there were these informace mixed together, they are now separated into separate views.

A key goal for One UI 4 was to provide users with assurance that the superstructure respects their privacy. The status bar now displays privacy indicators to alert users when an app is using the microphone, camera, and other features. The Permissions Control Panel shows statistics about which apps are using which permissions and how often, and also offers the option to deny them. Here, however, the company was clearly inspired by iOS Apple.

One UI 4 applies the same visual language to the various products in the line Galaxy, be it smartphones, tablets, smart watches or laptops. Getting dark mode right wasn't easy, as it had to strike a balance between visual comfort and preserving the look and feel of apps.

The possibility of self-expression was also an important factor in the creation of One UI 4. The environment uses the color system of the design language Androidu 12 Material You to "pull" five colors from the set wallpaper and customize the app interface around them.
