The Chinese smartphone predator Realme introduced the mid-range phone Realme 9 5G a few weeks ago. Now it has been revealed that it is working on a 4G version of it that will boast Samsung's new photo sensor.

The Realme 9 (4G) will specifically use a high-resolution 6 MPx ISOCELL HM108 sensor. It will not be the first Realme phone with a 108MPx main camera, last year's Realme 8 Pro was the first. However, it was fitted with an older ISOCELL HM2 sensor. The new sensor from the Korean tech giant uses NonaPixel Plus technology (working by combining pixels in multiples of 3×3), which, combined with other improvements, increases its ability to capture light (compared to the HM2) by 123%. Based on internal tests, Realme claims that the new sensor produces brighter images with better color reproduction when shooting in low-light conditions.

The Realme 9 (4G) should otherwise have a 6,6-inch IPS LCD display with FHD+ resolution and a 120 or 144Hz refresh rate. It will reportedly be powered by the Helio G96 chip, which is said to complement 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory. The battery is said to have a capacity of 5000mAh and support 33W fast charging. The phone is expected to be launched soon, probably in April, and should head to India first.
