A QR code, i.e. Quick Response, is a means of automated data collection. Just load it and you will be redirected to where it links without having to enter any addresses and more informace. And since QR codes have become quite popular over the years, it's good to know how to actually scan them with your device. On the phones Galaxy you can do this in two ways.

Most modern phones are no doubt capable of scanning a QR code using the camera. It has become its core feature, and for good reason. A number of devices Galaxy Samsung's is no different and can perform the same function.

As Androidu scan the QR code of the Camera application

  • Open the camera app.
  • Point the camera at the QR code.
  • The phone vibrates and shows you the View menu. options.
  • When you click on it, you can choose to open the link in your browser or just copy it.

If the Camera doesn't want to recognize the QR code for you and instead still offers to scan the document, go to the Settings of the Camera app to check if you have the option turned on Scan QR codes. On the contrary, if this functionality bothers you for some reason, you can turn it off here.

Scan QR codes using the built-in scanner

Phones Galaxy with their One UI, they offer a lot of hidden settings, options and shortcuts. Among them is the built-in QR code scanner. The latter is faster than the first method, especially on slower devices, because the user interface and functions that are part of the Camera application do not need to be loaded.

  • Swipe up with two fingers from the top of the screen to open the Quick Launch Panel.
  • If not set otherwise, scroll to the second page.
  • Here, select the Scan QR Code menu.
  • Point at the QR code and you'll be prompted whether you want to open it in a browser or just copy it.

Since the menu of the Quick Launch Panel can be arranged by the user, you can use the menu of three dots and the Edit button to move the function where you need it. However, the Scan QR code function can also scan it from an image on the device. You can load it simply with the icon on the bottom right, when you will then be redirected to your photo gallery.

If neither method of scanning suits you, of course you can also visit Google Play and install one of the efforts of third-party developers on your device. However, since both described methods are intuitive, reliable and fast, this is perhaps just an unnecessary waste of storage space.
