Globally popular messaging app WhatsApp has announced a number of improvements to voice messaging. The new functions will primarily make it easier for users to use them and overall improve communication with their contacts.

Improvements include the ability to pause or resume the recording of voice messages, the Remember Playback and Out-of-chat Playback functions, the visualization of voice messages, their preview, as well as the ability to play them faster (the last feature is already available for some users).

As for the Out-of-chat Playback function, it allows users to play "voices" outside the chat in which they were sent. This will allow users to reply to other chat messages. However, it should be noted here that the voice message will stop playing if the user leaves WhatsApp or switches to another application. Users will also be able to pause or resume recording voice messages. This comes in handy if something interrupts the user while recording. It will also be possible to play voice messages at 1,5x or 2x speed.

Another novelty is the visualization of voice messages in the form of a curve and the ability to first save the voice message as a draft and listen to it before sending it. Finally, if the user pauses the playback of the voice message, they will be able to resume listening where they left off when they return to the chat. At the moment, it is not clear when exactly users of the popular application will see the aforementioned news. However, WhatsApp said it will be within the next few weeks.
