YouTube is undoubtedly a great app for watching and sharing videos. However, a (stable) Internet connection is not always at hand, typically when traveling. In such a situation, it is useful to know how to download YouTube videos to your phone for offline viewing. We will tell you today.

There are several ways to download a YouTube video to your phone. The first is to subscribe to the YouTube Premium service, which costs CZK 179 per month (the first month is offered free of charge). But we will be interested in unofficial or "free" ways. The first of these are third-party applications, of which TubeMate is probably the most popular.

The second unofficial way to download a YouTube video to your phone is to use one of a number of sites dedicated to this purpose. One of the most famous is YT1s.com. It is very simple to use: copy the video link from the YouTube application to the page, click the button Convert and then on Download. The video will be saved in MP4 format. You can also do the same operation from your computer (which will surely be more convenient for many of you) and then "drag" the video to your phone.

Just a small warning at the end. Downloading YouTube videos in the aforementioned unofficial ways is not illegal, but it does violate the platform's rules of use. YouTube specifically states that: “You may not provide, reproduce, download, distribute, transmit, broadcast, display, sell, license, change, modify or otherwise use any part of the Service or the Content except as (a) expressly permitted by the Service; (b) when prior written consent has been granted by YouTube as well as any rights holder; or (c) when permitted by applicable law'.
