There are more and more video streaming platforms in the country as well. We recently added HBO Max, and Disney+ is coming to us in June. But it is true that Netflix is still the biggest. Its offer is undoubtedly the most comprehensive and also quite extensive, so it is sometimes difficult to find what you want in it. But there is a simple help, and that is Netflix codes.
Netflix has a pretty smart search for content where you just tell it what you want to search for comedy and he will present you with the results. You will also find subcategories by which you can specify the country of origin or a closer focus, such as Christmas comedy etc. It works the same even if you're looking for, for example, your favorite actors. But it is true that this way you will only get the most popular content. If you want to see some rarities, you'll probably have to dig deeper.

So while Netflix has a smart search, it uses a really weird system for categorizing movies and TV shows because there isn't actually a category tab. However, deep within the system, it contains a wealth of code that contains the platform's genre-boxed content. You can then simply view it with the appropriate code and choose what you want to watch. However, please note that content varies from region to region, so not all codes work in all locations. If you don't mind English, you can also switch to this language and thus view more content that we don't see due to the lack of Czech localization (dubbing or subtitles).

If you were wondering how such codes are actually created, Netflix categorizes its series and movies thanks to a combination of human and artificial intelligence. In other words, it has a lot of employees who monitor, rate and tag the content of the platform to get certain metadata. Through algorithms, the content is then divided into tens of thousands of different micro-genres or, as Netflix likes to call them, alt-genres. Also, some of the codes in the above list may not work completely because Netflix may have already changed it.

Czech localization is offered for such content that Netflix searches for you. They search for these codes across regional content, which may not always be directly offered in the Czech Republic, and therefore is not even localized.
