None of Samsung's flexible phones, including the current ones in the form Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3, does not have an under-display fingerprint reader. And this year's foldable smartphones won't have it either Galaxy Z Fold4 and Z Flip4. At least, according to the usually well-informed website Businesskorea.

This is rather surprising news as some media and mobile industry sources have previously speculated that Galaxy Both Fold4 and Flip4 will have a reader built into the display. This speculation was based on a patent that Samsung had registered with the World Intellectual Property Organization.

The next generation of "benders" from the Korean smartphone giant will apparently still have a fingerprint reader built into the power button on the side. According to experts cited by Koreabusiness, Samsung decided to stick with the existing technology as it is more advantageous in terms of user experience. It negates the need to open the flexible phone and unlock it with fingerprints.

O Galaxy Little is known about the Fold4 and Flip4 at this time. They should be powered by Qualcomm's next flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chipset, and the former will reportedly feature better cameras than its predecessor and improved protection displays. Both phones are very likely to be launched in August or September.
