UWB (Ultra-wideband) chips have become more or less standard in most Samsung flagships. In addition to helping with high-precision object tracking, they can also be used as a digital car key. Now with Digital Car Key received a number of new vehicles. Some newly supported include Genesis GV60 and GV90, BMW1-8, Z4, X5-7, iX3, iX and i4 or Kia Niro. Except for Genesis cars, all BMW and Kia models rely on NFC, not UWB.

It should be noted that the Digital Car Key is still exclusive to South Korea. Samsung has yet to confirm when it will arrive in international markets. However, it is possible to achieve the same result on smartphones Galaxy use androidnew digital key from Google (required, of course Android 12 and the feature is currently only available in a few countries around the world such as South Korea, USA, Canada, UK, Germany, Italy or France).

Deploying such a high-security yet high-risk feature on a global scale will take some time, as it has to be "unlocked" by a number of government agencies. In addition, most of the supported cars are top-of-the-line, so Samsung needs to make sure its security is top-notch as well, or risk a lawsuit if hackers manage to reverse-engineer its technology and get hold of the vehicle.
