More and more manufacturers, including Samsung, are starting to equip their phones with a special macro lens. However, the charm of this photo is unnecessarily degraded by the low resolution, which is typically only 2 and a maximum of 5 MPx. However, macro photography can also be taken on Galaxy S21 Ultra and Galaxy S22 Ultra.

They don't have a dedicated lens, but thanks to autofocus support on their ultra-wide cameras and a software feature that Samsung calls Focus Enhancer, they can do that too. But it must be said that you don't just need a special lens or software functions for macro photography. All you need is a phone with a telephoto lens and, of course, a bit of skill + a few basic tips.

Macro photography emphasizes the small details of the subject being photographed, such as its textures and patterns, and can turn normally boring and uninteresting objects into stunning works of art. You can of course take macro photos of various objects such as flowers, insects, fabrics, water drops and more. There are no limits to creativity, just keep in mind that this is primarily about ideal sharpness and depth.

Tips and tricks for better mobile macro photography

  • Find an interesting subject. Ideally, of course, something small that we don't observe so closely in everyday life.
  • If possible, try to place the subject in ideal light. If the light is too bright, you can soften it with a piece of paper placed in front of the light source.
  • As with regular photos, you can adjust the exposure to make the image lighter or darker. Just hold your finger on the display and use the exposure slider that will appear here.
  • Take care to photograph the subject in such a position that you do not cast a shadow on the subject being photographed.
  • Don't forget to take lots of pictures of the same subject, even from different angles, to get the perfect result.

With macro photography, you want to get as close as possible to the subject. However, you can now use your phone or your own character to shield yourself. However, you only need to use a telephoto lens for this. Thanks to its longer focal length, it brings you ideally closer to the object. But the quality of the result depends a lot not only on the light, but also on stabilization. So if you find a hobby in macro photography, you should consider a tripod. With the use of the self-timer, you will not shake the scene after pressing the software trigger or the volume button.

Apart from macro lenses, Samsung is also starting to equip its phone models with cameras with many MPx. If you don't have a telephoto lens, set your photo to the highest resolution available and try to shoot from a greater distance for ideal sharpness. You can then easily cut the result without the quality suffering too much. Sample photos used in the article are reduced and compressed.
