If you're tired of the same ringtone on your device, change it. You can do this for your ringtone, notification sounds, and system sound. We will also advise you how to quickly switch to silent mode.

Any device with an operating system Android offers volume buttons. If you press some, for example on a Samsung device with Androidem 12 and One UI 4.1 (in our case it is Galaxy S21 FE 5G) you will see a volume slider with the option to click it. Here, via the menu of three dots, you can adjust the individual volumes – ringtone, system and even media. But you can get to here through the gear icon Settings. If you go back for the menu, you are already offered to change the tunes here. However, you can get to this offer even if you go to Settings and search Sounds and vibrations.

Here you can select a ringtone and change it to the desired one, where you can also add new ones with the Plus icon. You also choose the notification sound or the system sound. Below you can also choose what type of vibration you want when you're on a call or when you're notified. Here you can also choose the intensity of the vibrations. On the menu System sound and vibration you then determine where and how you want your device to behave.

How to silence Android device

If the situation requires you to completely silence your device, you do not need to press or hold the volume buttons. You can do so from the menu of the quick launch panel. Here, just slide your finger down from the top edge of the display and tap the icon Sound. It will then change to Vibration.

Pressing it again will show it to you Mute and your device thus turns off all sounds and vibrations. If you don't see the icon, swipe down from the top edge of the display with two fingers and look for the icon in the displayed menu.
