The WhatsApp chat platform is used for daily communication not only by individuals, but also by various institutions such as schools or organizations. That's why Meta came up with the Community function, which is supposed to make the communication of group connections more efficient. It will make it possible to unite different groups under one imaginary roof.

Users can thus receive messages sent to the entire community and easily manage the smaller groups that are part of it. With the launch of this feature, there are also new tools for group administrators, including the ability to decide which groups are included in Communities. It is also possible to send messages and notifications to all group members at once. The new features will be rolled out in the coming weeks so people can start trying them before the Communities are fully ready.

Meta also brings a number of improvements, where new functions are intended to make communication more efficient and clarify what is happening in conversations in which a larger number of users are involved:

  • Reaction – users will be able to respond to messages using emoticons.
  • Deleted by administrator - group administrators will be able to delete problematic messages from all participants' conversations.
  • File sharing – the size of shared files will be increased up to 2 GB so that users can easily collaborate even remotely.
  • Multi-person calls – voice calls will now be available for up to 32 people.

Messages sent through Communities, like all WhatsApp conversations, are protected by end-to-end encryption. This technology thus ensures the safety and privacy of users on the platform.

As Meta states, Communities are just the beginning of the app, and building new features to support them will be the company's main focus in the coming year.
