ZTE is working on a phone that will boast an incredibly capable rear camera setup, at least when it comes to video recording. The Axon 40 Ultra smartphone, which will be the top model of the next ZTE Axon 40 flagship series, will be equipped with three 64MPx cameras, with the second being a "wide-angle" and the third a periscope camera.

The primary camera and the "wide-angle" will reportedly use a Sony IMX787 sensor, while the main one should have optical image stabilization. What is certain is that all three cameras will be able to record videos in 8K resolution, which is something unheard of in the world of smartphones.

According to unofficial reports, the Axon 40 Ultra will get an AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440p, the current Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 flagship chip, which is said to add up to 16 GB of operational and up to 512 GB of internal memory, and a sub-display camera. Let us recall here that the first ever smartphone with a sub-display camera was the Axon 20 5G phone from 2020. In terms of software, ZTE's next "superflag" will very likely be built on Androidu 12 and the latest version of the MiFavor UI superstructure. The Axon 40 series, which in addition to the Ultra model will also consist of a standard and a Pro model, will be presented on May 9.
