Samsung has Apple together they hold almost a 60% share of the global tablet market. In the first quarter of this year, Samsung ruled the market with androidtablets with 8,2 million units delivered, which is 1,2 percent less year-on-year. However, its market share increased by 1,8 percentage points to equal 20%. This was reported by Strategy Analytics.
As regards Apple, its year-over-year tablet shipments fell 6% year-over-year to 15,8 million units in the first three months of this year. Despite a relatively significant decline, its market share increased by 1,7 percentage points to 39%.
Third in the order was Amazon, which delivered 3,7 million tablets to the market in the period in question, which is 1,3% less year-on-year. Despite this, its market share also increased by 0,8 percentage points to 9%. Microsoft finished in fourth place with 3 million tablets shipped (a 20% year-on-year decrease) and a share of 7%. Even though Samsung makes some of the best tablets money can buy, it still lags behind Applem in terms of the total number of pieces delivered. It has a lot to do with the popularity of the iPad, which has logically become the first choice of those in the ecosystem of the Cupertino giant.
