Samsung makes some of the best TVs you can connect your Xbox to. However, soon you won't even need the console itself to play xbox games on your TV. Microsoft is working with Samsung on an application that will allow you to stream games directly on your TV.

Microsoft is serious about cloud gaming. As part of its Xbox Everywhere initiative, it wants to make Xbox games available to everyone, even if they don't have an Xbox console. This Samsung Smart TV app should arrive in the next 12 months.

It makes perfect sense that Microsoft chose Samsung for this project. The Korean giant is the world's largest supplier of high-end TVs, so the app will reach tens of millions of people. No other TV manufacturer has such a reach.

It's already possible to stream games on PC and mobile devices through Microsoft's Xbox Cloud Gaming service, and the upcoming Xbox app for Samsung Smart TVs will make console-quality gaming even easier. Details about the app are unknown at this time, but it is highly likely that users will need an Xbox Game Pass subscription to access the game library.
