Google unveiled a new tool at its I/O developer conference Wednesday night that lets you remove your personal information from search results. Of course, Google still offered the option to have your personal data or all search results removed, but the process you had to go through was very lengthy and made many users change their minds. Now everything is much easier and deleting your data from Google search results is a matter of a few clicks. However, it is very important to note, especially for less experienced users, that this feature will only remove sites that have your data from search results, your data will still be on those sites.

"When you search Google and find results about you that include your phone number, home address, or email address, you'll be able to quickly request that they be removed from Google Search — as soon as you find them." says Google in a post on the company's official blog. “With this new tool, you can request to remove your contact information from Search in just a few clicks, and you'll also be able to easily track the status of those removal requests. It is important to note that when we receive takedown requests, we review all content on the website to ensure that we are not restricting the availability of other information that is generally useful, such as in news articles." adds Google in its blog post.

During the I/O conference itself, Ron Eden, product manager of Google's search group, commented on the tool, explaining that removal requests will be evaluated both by algorithms and manually by Google employees. The tool itself and the features related to it will be introduced in the coming months.
