It's not something we like to talk about or think about, but the reality is that one day we're all just going to die. I sincerely hope that day is still a long way off for all of us and that the time in between is filled with truly happy memories. But when that actually happens, what will happen to your data?

Your friends and family probably don't think about your Google Account and all the personal information you have stored on it. It may seem like a banality to some, but for many it is important that all data is handed over to someone who can take care of it responsibly. Your Google account stores a lot of information, which may include important documents, funds in Google Pay, but of course it is primarily Google Photos with valuable memories that are worth preserving.

All informace because they will be important to those who will remain after you, and leaving them lying idle on the server forever is definitely not a solution. Fortunately, Google has a simple service that lets you decide what happens to everything the company has about you once your account becomes inactive. So there are two ways.

Several options for your link

The first case is when you don't take care of anything yourself. Your next of kin will have to contact Google directly and report your death on the site here. The latter will then require a death certificate and you will also only get specific items from the account. Of course, it is better to provide loved ones with all the data, e.g. on a flash drive, but the fact is that this is not always ideal.

So, if you don't tell your loved ones the credentials to access your data, if you have a locked phone and a computer to which they don't have a password, it's better to use the service in any case Manager of inactive accounts Google. This allows you to determine very precisely what is wrong with your digital ones informaceme to do after your account has been inactive for a period of time. So you can choose how long this period is and what data is shared with whom, as well as what actually happens to your account in the end.

How to prepare your Google Account for your death with Inactive Account Manager

Open the page in your web browser Manager of inactive accounts. It doesn't matter if you do it on a computer, tablet or mobile. The whole process takes place in four basic steps. The first is Plan what will happen if you can no longer use your Google Account. So choose Start.

By default, the period of inactivity is set for 3 months. You will receive a contact from Google 1 month before this moment occurs. But you can easily change this period by clicking on the pencil menu. There are still 6, 12 or 18 months to choose from. You can find a detailed breakdown of how Google detects account activity here.

This is followed by entering the phone number to which it is sent informace about account inactivity. So just fill it out. It continues by entering the email that will receive the same message as well as the recovery email. You can change both here. When you tap on Další, you will move to the section Determine who to inform and what to pass on to them.

Determine who Google should inform and what data it should pass on to them

You can select up to 10 people that Google will notify when your account is no longer active. You can also grant them access to a portion of your data, which you then select from a list. So simply tap on Add a person and enter her email. After that, choose what data you will give her. After the election Další you can still tell Google to verify the user's identity. Whether you want to do so is up to you. There is also an option to add a personal message to him.

If you use Gmail, you can also set up an automatic reply to be sent after your account is no longer active. People who email you afterwards will be informed that you are no longer using this account. To do this, just select the offer Set an automatic reply. It can also be set here that this reply will be sent only to your contacts in the list.

Decide to delete the account

By selecting the menu again Další you move to the last menu. This refers to the decision whether Google should delete your inactive account and thereby delete all its content. If you choose to allow someone to download your content, they will have three months to do so. All you have to do is turn on the switch next to the menu Yes, delete my inactive Google account.

The last step is just Check the schedule. In it, you are informed about the set options and you just confirm them here. And that's all. Now you've set up how the data should be handled after you're gone, so you can rest a little bit more at ease because nothing will go down the drain of history (unless you want it to). After checking and confirming the plan, you are redirected to admin page, where you can change your previous decision or deactivate the entire plan at any time.
