Google recently announced that it will clean the Play Store of outdated apps for Android, which do not support the latest features of the platform or have been neglected for a long time, i.e. without proper updates. New informace however, it mentions how many of these apps there are. The purge is supposed to cover almost 900 titles.

Cited by CNET, analytics firm Pixalate claims that Google and Apple together, they remove or hide up to 1,5 million apps from their app stores because they haven't been updated in at least two years. In the case of Google Play, more specifically, there are approximately 869 outdated apps. Those, as Google previously mentioned, will be hidden in its store and won't show up in search results for new downloads. Existing users of these outdated applications will of course not be affected.

The deadline is set for November 1 this year. So if developers don't respond and update their titles, users will no longer find them on Google Play. It is already necessary to update applications to at least API 29, which corresponds Androidin 10 Android 12 corresponds to API 31 a Android 12L API 32, in autumn with Androidem 13 will come API 33 and its release should therefore happen by the end of October. That is why the deadline for developers is set at the beginning of November 2022.
