According to many, electric cars are the future of the automotive industry. Some of the world's biggest car companies are now actively focusing on bringing them to market. At the same time, this segment also attracts companies that are not otherwise engaged in the production of cars. In this context, we talk about, for example, Apple or Xiaomi.

At one point, there was also speculation that Samsung could jump on this wave. Its various divisions already supply components to some leading electric car manufacturers, so it wouldn't be that impossible for it. Now, however, it looks like the Korean tech giant has decided not to make electric cars. Citing two unnamed high-ranking Samsung employees, The Korea Times reported that Samsung has no plans to produce its own brand of electric cars. The main reason is said to be that the Korean giant does not believe that it would have sustainable profits as an electric car manufacturer. As a leading supplier of components to the industry, it is also said to want to avoid any potential conflicts of interest with its clients.

Specifically, Samsung provides autonomous driving chips, camera modules, batteries and OLED displays to automakers that make electric cars. Among its biggest clients are Tesla, Hyundai, BMW, Audi and Rivian.
