As we reported yesterday, the watch Galaxy Watch4 have finally, almost a year later, received Google Assistant. As they say, better late than never, but we're not only puzzled as to why it had to take so long.

As you know, Samsung and Google jointly developed the operating system Wear OS 3, which debuted in smartwatches Galaxy Watch4 to Watch4 Classic. The recently announced watch also runs on this system pixel Watch and some watches from other brands are getting an update (for example, the Mobvoi TicWatch E3, Mobvoi TicWatch For 3 GPS, Skagen Falster Gen 6 or Fossil Gen 6 series).

The Korean giant paid for this exclusivity by shutting down its own Tizen system. However, thanks to the transition to a new operating system, they had a smart watch Galaxy also benefit from better support for third-party apps and access to Google Assistant. So now on Galaxy Watch4 actually arrived. In this context, let us remind you that Google Assistant is not a new concept for smart watches. It's new for Wear OS 3 because Galaxy Watch4 are currently the only watches running this version. However, the assistant is available for older versions Wear OS since 2018.

The question is why Google and Samsung decided Assistant on Galaxy Watch4 to be made available almost a year after they were introduced. It's possible that the aforementioned Pixel watch has something to do with it Watch. Or maybe Samsung wanted its Bixby assistant to bask in the spotlight for a while before offering users an objectively better alternative. Technical difficulties could also be behind the Assistant's late arrival, although on the other hand, it would hardly take such a long time to solve them.

However, these are all just speculations and it is quite possible that the real reason why Google Assistant arrived at Galaxy Watch4 so inexplicably late, we'll never know. Czech users may not care anyway, because Assistant is not (hopefully just yet) supported in our country.
