Smartphone shipments in Europe decreased by 10% year-on-year in the first quarter of this year, and Samsung also recorded a drop in shipments. Fortunately for him, it remains the number one smartphone on the old continent and leaves it behind Apple and Xiaomi. This was reported by the analytical company Canalys.

41,7 million smartphones were shipped to the European smartphone market in the first quarter of this year, which is 4,7 million fewer than in the same period last year. Samsung led the way with 14,6 million smartphone shipments (down 9% year-on-year) and a 35% share, second in line Apple shipped 8,9 million smartphones (up 1% year-on-year) and held a 21% share, and third-placed Xiaomi shipped 8,2 million smartphones (down 22% year-on-year) and held a 20% share.

Samsung's bottom line in the period was helped by solid sales of low-end and mid-range smartphones and a recovering supply chain. Apple saw high demand for the iPhone 13 and Xiaomi benefited from the launch of the Redmi Note 11 series. According to Canalys analysts, the European smartphone market declined in the first quarter mainly due to low demand in Russia and Ukraine, where deliveries decreased by 31 and 51%. Even with rising inflation in mind, the next few quarters will be a real test for the European smartphone market.
